- Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in the African continent with three volcanic cones : Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira.
- It is the highest single free-standing mountain in the world with 5.895 meters (19.341 ft) above sea level and about 4.900 meters (16.100 ft) above its plateau base. The summit is named Uhuru Point.
- Kilimanjaro is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park and a major climbing destination.
- The age of Mount Kilimanjaro is about 3 million years while the last eruption occurred between 150.ooo and 200.000 years ago.
