Interesting Extraterrestrial Facts In Recent Findings

Humans often wonder whether or not we are alone in this universe. Many discoveries seemed to increase the prospect of extraterrestrial entities existing. The possibility of alien life outside Earth could ranging from bacteria to smart technological beings.

With around two billion Earth-like planets in the Milky Way – our galaxy – alone, the chances of extraterrestrial life are better and better. Here are some facts about aliens or not so aliens findings in the recent time that could lead us somewhere to reveal other lifeforms in the Universe.

Venus cloud could host alien bacteria inside

In September 2020 news broke of potential evidence of life in the upper clouds of Venus. The evidnece pointed to the presence of phospine, a rare and poisonous gas on Earth that always associated with living organisms. But when a team aimed the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii and the Atacama Large Millimetre Array in Chile, the results aren’t quite convincing.

An interstellar visitor called Oumuamua

Three years ago there was a cigar shaped called Oumuamua hurtling through the solar system. It is considered to be a comet by most scientists. But Avi Loeb, a Harvard University astrophysicist has proposed an idea that instead of a comet the interstellar visitor could have been an alien probe.

Other scientists didn’t take the idea too seriously but Loeb showed some evidence that Oumuamua could still be alien technology. Seems we should wait a little longer to get the final conclusion at least.

Life could live around black hole

When hunting life on other worlds, most scientists are searching for Earth-size worlds orbiting Sun-like stars. But indeed there is more exotic possibility such as a planet that circling around a black hole.

At first this sounds absurd, but when a planet doesn’t cross the event horizon of the black hole then the planet would be gravitationally stable. With the light from the cosmic background radiation heated as it fell into the black hole, this could provide warmth and energy to any organisms in that strange planet.

A mysterious signal coming from another star

In early January 2021, researchers announced they had captured a very strange beam at 980 megahertz. The signal coming from the closest star to our own, Proxima Centauri. The star is just 4.2 light years away and hosts one rocky world like Earth in its habitable zone.

Researchers are excited but cautious in observing the signal. They explains it could be any kind of signal and that it will likely take time to know whether it’s a signal from natural sources or intelligent lifeforms aliens.

Milky Way has many ocean worlds

Planets with significant amount of water on or beneath their surfaces are common in the solar system. Such as Earth, Jupiter’s moon Europa and Saturn’s moon Enceladus.

While beyond our solar system there are 53 exoplanets similar in size to Earth according to a study. Scientists conclude that about a quarter might have the conditions to support life in their ocean. Furthermore, these ocean worlds could be relatively common in the galaxy.
