Godzilla vs Kong : warner bros.' mega monsters battle

Godzilla vs Kong

Fans of monster movies will have another block buster movie coming this March 31, Godzilla vs Kong.  Warner Bros will release the movie in theaters and on HBO Max on the same day. It is a sequel to Kong : Skull Island and Godzilla : King of the Monsters.

According to screenrant.com the trailer of the movie is Warner Bros.’ biggest debut ever after surpassing 15 million views in 24 hours on Warner Bros.’ You Tube Channel. Warner Bros.’ strategy in this pandemic period is giving all 17 of their 2021 movies simultaneous releases on HBO Max and in U.S. theaters. Therefore, Godzilla vs Kong will be one of the only blockbusters out over the coming months as multiple major 2021 movies continue to be delayed from Hollywood big studios.

Directed by Adam Wingard, we will meet again with Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler reprising their roles from previous film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, along with a cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, and Brian Tyree Henry.

Godzilla movies have a very long history. The first Godzilla movie was titled Godzilla back in 1954 when director Ishiro Honda and Toho studio released the movie. This original prehistoric monster was very big and very scary. The design was created by Eiji Tsubaraya which is also known as the creator of another Japanese super hero, Ultraman.

The idea of Godzilla was from the war between USA and Japan in World War 2 when USA bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with Atomic bombs. The radiation then affected animals in the surrounding area. With creativity and imagination thinking from the creators, one of them mutated strangely and becoming Godzilla that we know today. This creature also has a lot of common with Japan traditional culture : dragons and demons.

Coming from ancient radiated Kaiju, or a fictional monster,  this giant dinosaurs-like was a black and white movie star with limited special effects technology in the first movie. For 67 years the Godzilla franchise has been around to entertain us and Guinness Book of World Records calls it the longest-running franchise in the history of cinema. There are 32 films produced by Toho and four Hollywood films. And that because he is the king of monsters !

Talking about a king, there are always enemy for a king. When a tree grows higher, the stronger the wind will blow. The enemies for Godzilla are, of course, monsters too. From a really fierce and scary behemoth to absurd animal-shape ones, they are ready to tear our Earth piece by piece. Here are some of the strongest of them :

King Ghidorah, the strongest Godzilla villain ever. This three headed dragon can regrow his heads and have wings for fly high, one thing that Godzilla doesn’t have. Probably he is the most recognizable Godzilla’s foe and considered his arch-enemy.

Second is Destoroyah. He is a huge dragon that fights Godzilla in Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995) and has 4 kind of form and the 4th form is the most powerful. He could take 7 red spiral beams before it dies.

Next is Mecha Godzilla, this is an evil counterpart to Godzilla. He has steel body all over it. Cannon, missiles, electricity, eye cannons are the weapons he has to beat Godzilla. Although his weaponry varies from one movie to another, it always gives powerful blow to his opponents.

And there is Gigan who has two bladed sharp chainsaw hands and three wings. He is pretty much a giant mantis and has unusual appearance like fat body and claws for hands.

The most commonly appearing monster in Godzilla flicks is Mothra. She was the first flying opponent of Godzilla in the movie Godzilla vs Mothra (1964). She would often team up with Godzilla to protect the Earth against bigger bad monsters.

If you want to have more knowledge about Godzilla, you can check out some of these movies that gained most attention from public over the past 67 years :  Godzilla (1954), King Kong vs Godzilla (1962), Son of Godzilla (1967), Godzilla vs Gigan (1972), Return of Godzilla (1985), Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995), Godzilla (1998), Godzilla : Final Wars (2004), Godzilla (2014), Shin Godzilla (2016), Godzilla : King of the Monsters (2019).
