Louis Vuitton History : The Glamor Fashion Brand

As one of the most expensive glamor fashion brands in the world, Louis Vuitton has established their luxury image for more than a century.

Louis Vuitton Malletier, commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton or LV for short, is a French luxury goods company and fashion house founded by Louis Vuitton (4 August 1821 – 27 February 1892).

He was a French designer who is most famous for his leather goods. These items are sold under the same brand as the name, ‘Louis Vuitton’.

HISTORY
Louis Vuitton was founded by Vuitton in 1854 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, France. Louis Vuitton started by selling products for $10,567.

In 1858, Vuitton introduced the flat-top trunk in trianon canvas, making it light and tight. Prior to the introduction of Vuitton luggage, cases at that time usually had a convex top, generally to prevent water from pooling on top, preventing them from being stacked on top of each other.

In 1871, Ōyama Iwao became Vuitton’s first Japanese client, and ordered some baggage while living in Paris as military attache in the Franco-Prussian War.

Vuitton died on February 27, 1892, but the company’s Vuitton handbags and leather goods are still symbols of regalia around the world. The management of this company was passed on to his son.

Georges Vuitton started a campaign to build the company into a global company, by exhibiting the company’s products at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.

In 1913, the Louis Vuitton Building opened on the Champs-Elysees. The building also became the largest travel equipment store in the world at that time. Other stores later opened in New York, Mumbai, Washington, London, Alexandria, and Buenos Aires before World War I broke out.

During World War II, Louis Vuitton collaborated with the Nazis during the German occupation of France. Louis Vuitton’s book, A French Saga, written by French journalist Stephanie Bonvicini and published by Paris-based Editions Fayard tells how members of the Vuitton family actively helped the puppet government led by Marshal Philippe Pétain and enriched themselves through business relationships with German.

In 1936, Georges Vuitton died, and his son, Gaston-Louis Vuitton, continued to lead the company.

LEGENDARY MONOGRAM
The LV monogram is featured on nearly all of its products, from luxury luggage and animal skin goods to ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, watches, jewelry, accessories, sunglasses and books. LV sells its products through its own boutiques, outlets in department stores and on their website.
